Disclosure: I like books; it is very helpful to me to learn of other Quaker’s journeys of enlightenment, courage, gifts, wisdom and more. When I cannot find a book at our library, Thrift Books has proved an invaluable source, especially for books out of print – https://thriftbooks.com
Ben Pink Dandelion writes of Quaker efforts in Britain seeking “collective and global change rooted in our spiritual experience. We are called by God to change way things are, to nurture love and justice in the world. We are filled with a sense of reconciliation and hope and driven to action by joy and love. The Quaker way is a way of transformation.”
Dandelion continues with a list of four fundamental elements:
- We know we can encounter the Divine directly. This being so,
- we choose a form of worship to nurture that experience.
- We have developed practices that enable us to recognise (sic) and understand what this experience asks of us, and we root our business method in that experience and discernment of direct encounter.
- We find that intimacy with the Divine transforms us and our approach to the rest of humanity, and calls us to a distinct way of life: our testimony.
